Going to Ohio today to visit family for a week and have Thanksgiving up there.
I'll try to be on AIM as much as I can when I can, I just don't know how much it'll be.
Dad said we're coming back on Saturday the 28th, instead of the 27th like I had hoped.
;.;
That means I'm gonna miss most of Yamato's birthday.

Damnit.
I'm up to 248lbs.
Having smaller portions of food sucks, haven't lost anything.
Sometimes I wonder what the point is sometimes.

This is a buyable real clock, but I don't know if they still sell it, the website is really old and I haven't bothered sending an e-mail to ask.
HOWEVER, the Desktop clock version is still available for downloading (and is clean of viruses, or at least was when I got it yesterday) and is pretty nifty. You gotta play with the settings to make it smaller on your desktop and make sure it's 'part' of the Desktop itself, but I like it. It's a good buy at $0, just download and install.

I got a temporary job. . . in a way.
I'm now working with another group in the Tommy Nobis Center for the next 8 Weeks, give or take a few days depending on how things work out.
I'm working at a nursery, planting seedlings into tiny shotglass-sized cups of soil.
The work is so easy it's boring. But at least it's work, kinda.
I mean 'kinda' because I'm being paid on a per-item basis instead of an hourly wage.
It's not a 'real' job, it's another part of my Work Adjustment 'testing' that the Tommy Nobis Center is doing for my Vocational Rehabilitation.

A world first: Vaccine helps prevent HIV infection
By MARILYNN MARCHIONE and MICHAEL CASEY, AP
BANGKOK — For the first time, an experimental vaccine has prevented infection with the AIDS virus, a watershed event in the deadly epidemic and a surprising result. Recent failures led many scientists to think such a vaccine might never be possible.

The Negotiator

You are a peacekeeper, plain and simple. Only the most dire of circumstances will make you draw, much less use, your saber. The serene color of your blade matches your cool, calm exterior.
Your high sense and style scores show that you are always willing to talk first, and to use persuasion where reason fails. Negotiations can go sour, however, and on those occasions you are well-equipped for escape or confrontation.

Yup, it's my birthday. Same time as last year; imagine that. n.n;
I'm 29 now.
I'm not entirely sure what to think of it. I look back at what I've done, what I've wanted to do, and the like and I'm honestly surprised at how little I've done in nearly three decades.
Other people made plans for their life, went places and did things.
My plans always seemed to fall through, and despite my age I'm still living at home and still without the needed job or money required to move out.
It's a rather somber thought.
I wonder if I'll still be right where I am now in a year's time?
I guess we'll see.

[BigCartoon Network ditching all-'toon format[/Big]
Cable station no longer living up to its name, will get in to live-action reality shows, scripted programs.
First MTV stops showing music videos, now this? Cartoon Network is sticking with the "Network" portion of its name, but ditching the strictly "Cartoon" bit, the company announced today. Nineteen new projects were announced, and less than half will be hand-drawn.
"These exciting new projects represent the next phase in Cartoon Network's ambitious, ongoing strategy to re-invent the network and re-energize our youth business overall," said Stuart Snyder.
These new non-cartoons will start airing in the coming 2009-2010 season and feature reality and scripted programs, most of which sound like pint-sized versions of programs currently airing on other networks.
Highlights: The Othersiders is a mini-Ghost Hunters, with five friends exploring scary places; Destroy Build Destroy is like Human Wrecking Balls, with two teams blowing stuff up; Dude, What Would Happen is a Mythbusters clone; Bobb'e Says takes the ridiculously funny child actor Bobb'e J. Thompson (Human Giant, Role Models) in his own take of America's Funniest Home Videos.
Also announced was a live-action Ben 10: Alien Force movie, a Scooby-Doo! prequel telefilm, and a full CG movie titled Firebreather!
Don't worry all you glassy-eyed college students--it doesn't look like the late-night Adult Swim block will be affected by any of this.

Ok, so I've been waiting and waiting for my expungement to finally go through. According to their website the court granted the case and the lawyers were waiting on the court to mail the order to them.
That was on the website, which may not reflect any current status, that's why I called.
Turns out the expungement was granted and they already received the papers; they just forgot to send them to me.
X_x;;;
The lady I was talking to is going to give the papers to the Case Manager to double-check that they are mine, and if so it'll be sent to me. That'll take about a week to arrive by mail (I'm guessing).
If they're not, then they'll have to ask the court to send the files again, which could take about 2 weeks, then they'll mail it to me once they get it.
I'm hoping they ARE my papers. It means this whole debacle is over and I'm free.

My computer is now dead.
I'm typing this from my mom's computer, which is underpowered compared to what my computer is...or rather, was.
A few days ago a memory stick went bad. I couldn't boot the computer at all, though when I pulled out one stick, I booted up just fine; although my computer was now running on just 1 gig of RAM rather than 2, which meant my more graphic games was no longer playable.
However, this morning it got worse. According to the Boot Error Beeping there's a problem with my video card. Dad quickly tested just about everything else, and it's not a problem in my harddrives nor my power supply. He went through all the things he knows how to test to eliminate what could be causing the booting problem, and he's sure it's gotta be my video card having puked its guts and died.
Problem: We have no spare PCI card to swap out to test it.
Bigger Problem: We don't have enough money (right now) to buy one to replace my bad one.
Even Bigger Problem: Mom and dad left around 11am today to go visit Great Aunt Caroline; she turned 90 last month and they both want to visit her again while they can (she's not sick or anything, but she's 90
So, I'm home alone, with no access to my porn collection, or my downloaded cartoon shows (like SWAT Kats, Gargoyals, Wing Commander, Captain N and more), lacking the majority of my PC Games (mom's compy isn't a gaming rig, and dad's compy is running Vista, which scoffs at the idea of dirtying its code with games), and mostly just having to do even less than my typical nothing that I do normally.
Health-wise, I've been coughing a lot.
And I mean a LOT.
It's been a month and I'm still coughing, so I'm convinced it's something my body can't handle on its own. Mom and dad agree, but it can't be helped yet because we don't have the money yet for a doctor's visit.
We'll work it out though.
And I'm over it, but a part of me still misses Whiskers; especially at times like this when I'm home alone. That's when I'd hold him and skritch him the most.

Sometime in 1994, a kitty was born, in the middle of 1995, my friend brought him to us, and we kept his name, Whiskers.
He was a good natured cat, enjoying skritches especially on his cheeks, and only scratched us on accident. He even sounded apologetic when he'd pee or poo outside of his litterbox.
He's the only cat I know of that would allow himself to be held on his back to get belly skritches. One time he even went to sleep like that, in my arms, like a baby.
He was a great cat, and we pampered him.
Late last year, he got sick, and the vet gave us some antibiotics and ear drops to help him get better; and for a while it worked.
But for the past couple months, he got worse and worse, and we didn't have the money to take him back to the vet until today.
He was worse than we thought, but it's what I feared.
The vet said that he probably had a tumor in the back of his head; that is what was making him so sick.
Trying to treat him couldn't guarantee that he'd get better, the treatments would put a lot of stress on his already weakened body and his health might not even get better afterwards.
I could barely talk loud enough to tell the vet that putting him to sleep would be best for him.
Mom was with us, and she broke down crying hearing the news.
When the vet mentioned that she can bring Whiskers in so we can be with him when he goes to sleep, I instantly said 'yes' loud enough that she didn't get a chance to say the other option.
She left, and brought Whiskers back after giving him the shot to put him to sleep, he was already groggy.
We skritched him and said our goodbyes, he knew we were there with a twitch of his tail. After a minute or two, he was asleep, and the vet gave him the final shot.
He'll be missed greatly, he was a part of our family, but I am glad we gave him a long, happy and pampered life.
Goodbye Whiskers, I hope you're happy wherever you are now.

Impossible, I know. :P
Well, last week or so I noticed a zit on my elbow. Annoyed me, but I had to let it grow so it'd be ready to be drained and killed.
On the night of the 18th, after getting back from a friend's birthday party (in which we had Teppanyaki! YAY!) the zit was large enough to hurt. So I picked at it, drained it, and cringed when my hand slipped and my fingernail scraped away a lot of skin.
Ow, but I put a bandaid on it, and went to bed.
When I wake up, it's hurting, a LOT. It hurt to move it, it hurt to lay any weight on it, it hurt to rest my arm on my compy chair's arm rest, it just HURT.
By that night, I figure "Ok, so it's just sore from me scraping it away." and I take some Tylenol PM pills. Kill the pain and help me sleep. It's win-win right? So I fall asleep at around 10pm or so.
I then wake up at 1am in a whole BUTTLOAD of pain. It hurts so much that I can't move it in any way AND I can't go back to sleep. By 4am I finally get out of bed (and woke Yamato up) just so I can sit at my computer and do something to try to get my mind off the pain. It was so much I was nearly in tears.
It's something few people know for sure, but I have a somewhat low pain tolerance; a pinch hurts and I'll be vocal about it. But I don't cry over pain. If I'm crying from the pain, that means it's something SERIOUS.
Yamato was worried sick about me, and I can't blame him; it was hurting that much.
After mom and dad got up, I told them what happened.
See, they're leaving for Ohio to spend Christmas with our family up there. And they were leaving that morning!
So it's up to me and Yamato to take care of things. Dad advised for us to go to CVS Pharmacy because they have a mini-doctors office there that should be cheaper than a normal doctor's visit (since I have no insurance). We get the directions, mom and dad leave for Ohio, and soon after we head to CVS. We sign in, wait in line, finally get to see the doc there and she said "Oh wow, that is a serious infection. We can't treat that here." and she refers us to this immediate care clinic nearby that CAN help me. We head there, sign in at 12-noon.
Then we wait.
And wait some more.
Then wait even more
It wasn't until 3:30pm that we finally got to see the doctor.
He took a look at my elbow, took a culture, but even without that being done he said "Yeah, that looks like a Staph Infection."
Not knowing the full extent of it, I didn't react, but Yamato did, he knew how serious a staph infection can be.
My options were limited, mostly because of cost. We were using my credit card for all this, and it doesn't have much on it, and we feared how much the whole thing would cost because it was $125 just to walk in, and I didn't have much left after that.
Once I'm brought into an operating table, they get the prices, and they're not as bad as I feared. Still expensive, but it's not enough to kill my credit.
So, the doctor anesthetizes my elbow, and that needle hurt like all hell, and waited a bit for the stuff to take hold (and my entire face went pale, I hate needles). Soon enough, the very center of my elbow went numb (but the rest of my arm and around my elbow STILL hurt) and the doctor could operate. He took a scalpel, sliced me open, and started cleaning up the infection.
Once that was done, the nurse filled my hole with these little medicated puffs to soak up the infection, then wrapped it all in this self-sticking gauze.
Thing is, the medicated puffs have to be changed every day until the infection is gone. That could take days, weeks or even months. Worse, I can't change the puffs myself because they need to be changed in a sterile environment, so I have to go BACK to the doctors every day.
After the operation, the doc gave me prescriptions for two different antibiotics. One is HUGE. Like a freeking horse pill. Both are nasty to the taste, but then again all pills are.
Me and Yamato zipped to Wal*Mart (after a quick stop home so I could take some Vicodin that was left over from my tooth infection) and got my medication (and dinner) then went back home.
By then the vicodin had taken hold and my pain went away. But the stress of everything from the whole day made me not really hungry. Despite loving Hungry Man dinners, I could only eat half of mine.
At least that means I'll have it for dinner tonight, because Yamato has to work today and he'll be home late; when he leaves work he's heading to pick up our friend Solemn so he can stay with us until Christmas, and that means I'll be having dinner by myself.
Though even with the vicodin, I'm still in pain. It's just not as bad as it could be.

Majel Barrett-Roddenberry, the wife of “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry, has passed away, Access Hollywood has learned. She was 76.
The actress died of leukemia at 12:27 AM on Thursday with her son, Rod, by her side. She was diagnosed with the disease six months ago.
Majel, whose acting credits included “Bonanza” and “Leave It To Beaver,” had been a part of “Star Trek” in all of its forms since it first premiered on September 8, 1966.
In addition to playing Number One and Nurse Christine Chapel in the original series, she played Deanna Troi’s mother on “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”
And Majel also voiced the computer of the various starships used throughout all of the TV shows and movies from the sci-fi franchise — she just completed her voiceover work as the voice of the Enterprise in director J.J. Abrams’ reboot of “Star Trek,” due in theaters on May 8, 2009.

Seven computers a-swimming
Six gundams a-fursuiting
Five gu-u-u-undam models
